NARNIA: The Musical

WHEN: November 3rd & 4th, 7-9PM

Callbacks: November 5th, 7-9PM

WHERE: The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts, Maplewood, NJ

Rehearsals begin: TBD

Performances: Jan 23rd - Feb 1st

Please bring sheet music and prepare 16 bars of a show tune that showcases your range. You will also be asked to read selections from the script.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

ASLAN: The great noble lion of Narnia who sacrifices himself and is resurrected.  – Baritone/Tenor
JADIS: the White Witch – An evil queen who has used her power to freeze Narnia in a perpetual winter.  – strong Alto/Mezzo – belt OK
THE PEVENSIE CHILDREN:

PETER: The eldest, brave, and noble. – Baritone/Tenor
SUSAN: Brave and smart. – Soprano
EDMOND: Initially rude, tempted by Turkish Delight. – boy’s unchanged voice or Baritenor
LUCY: Kind, youngest, the first to discover Narnia. – Soprano

MR. TUMNUS: Male, a faun who befriends Lucy but works for the White Witch. – Tenor
FENRIS ULF: Male, a wolf, The Chief of the White Witch’s Police -- boy’s unchanged voice or Baritenor
DWARF: Chief lackey to the Queen—male or female -- Character voice medium range
MR. BEAVER: a male beaver, kind, helps guide the children and keep them safe. – Baritone/Tenor
MRS. BEAVER: a female beaver, doting, and very brave. – Mezzo
PROFESSOR DIGORY KIRKE: the Pevensie children's uncle, he hosts them in his old mansion during WWII. – Baritone/Tenor
FATHER CHRISTMAS: Santa, He appears in Narnia after the White Witch's spell begins to break. – Baritone
MRS. MACREADY: housekeeper in the professor’s house, human (can be non-singing)
THE WHITE STAG: a dance role only–the harbinger of change in NARNIA
VARIOUS CITIZENS OF NARNIA: Dryads, a Minotaur, unicorns, a phoenix, woodland creatures, etc.
